"I want to make beautiful things, even if nobody cares." -Saul Bass
Hi, I'm Mutunga, a student focused in Experience Architecture at Michigan State.
Designer by day, and by night, I'm still often thinking about design. My work is my play, deeply passionate about bringing creativity to life, I strive to marry purpose with aesthetics in everything I create.
My design philosophy stems from three main ideas, design with purpose, design with understanding, and solve problems with simplicity. Often times we are drawn in creating work and adding its function at the very end, rather than establishing a purpose and function and designing around that idea. Great designs come from understanding what is going on at a user and system level. I design to understand people and their problems so that I accurately solve for them.
Sometimes the best solutions are the least complicated for everyone. I love the phrase "Less is more" and believe Steve Jobs expands upon this perfectly, stating "Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple.” I always incorporate this philosophy in my work to keep things as simple for myself and others.
